Grilled Korean BBQ Beef

I first had this at the home of Donna and Dave Bentz back in 1988. Dave was the Bishop of our church in Santa Monica.  This was a popular summer dish at  their house after a day at the beach.  Donna and Dave always invited a crowd to share it with.

3 pounds top sirloin thinly sliced
Wooden skewers soaked in water

Marinade:

1 cup soy sauce
1 cup sugar
1 cup chopped green onion
4 tablespoons minced garlic
2 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Marinate the steak slices at least 8 hours or overnight.
Prepare the grill for a medium heat.
Thread the slices of meat on wooden skewers (make sure they have been soaked in water for at least 2 hours).
Grill 3 minutes on each side.

Serve with rice and lettuce leaves, or on top of a good salad.
